Try adding just a drop or two of dishwashing liquid to your water. The gnats don't like the taste of soap.
Reply:This is the best solution ever. Found it on the internet, I had a HUGE problem with gnats in my room. What you do is get a clear disposable cup. Pour lots of vinegar or apple cider vinegar in it, pour some yellow dye in it. Gnats get so attracted to the yellow and the strong smell, the fly onto the side of the cup, and then drown. They cant get out because they cant swim and their wings are wet. In about 2 days, you'll have SO many gnats drowned that you will be suprised there were that many.
Reply:i had this problem once. i had to get rid of all my plants. i would check for standing water in the plant, i think that is where they lay thier eggs. i would visit my local home improvment store and see if they have some kind of pesticide you could use that wouldnt harm the plant.
Reply:dont no
Reply:I had this problem with a palm . I took it outside for two days and bought raid spray for gnats and flies. Sprayed the tree and the house . When I brought it back in all was well. And gnats have to be attracted to something. My problem was standing water in the drain tray. You have to figure out why they like your tree.
Reply:Don't you mean GNATS?
Reply:I read up on this on the internet last fall. I found that putting a garlic clove in the water container and letting it sit will deter gnats, they don't like the water moisture. I read it is the most effective natural product. Other products with chemicals are available but I couldn't use them at work.
