What house plants are the best for soaking up CO2 as i want to do my bit to combat global warming?

obviously i dont expect to go carbon neutral, but surly growing some house plants could be a good start for me and my sons

What house plants are the best for soaking up CO2 as i want to do my bit to combat global warming?
The larger leaf plants obviously will eat up more but inside the home space may be a problem so vines may be a option and some "corn" plants, maybe ferns.

Reply:the more green leafy foliage you get, the more photosynthesis is taking place - the more o2 is being released. Ficus benjamani are very leafy, but like lots of light and stable temps. various varieties of philodendron are also very leafy and viney Report Abuse

Reply:Get a bonsai of Banyan tree or Rubber tree these trees are good to give out oxygen in the day time and soak up all the CO2 at nite this will surely keep ur home surrounding clean and purified with fresh oxygen levels. Both these trees are way too huge but a bonsai wud sure be great enuf. If u go for some cactus too it will be great but it's said that cactus shudn't be kept inside the house as it's not good for people in general.

Reply:Pick ANY plant on the planet, they all perform "Photosythesis", remember, plants "Respire" too (Take in O2, and give off CO2) Uh OH, this is NOT at the same rate though.
Reply:Are you asking a serious question or is it a bit tongue in cheek. If you are serious then I have to say that your concept of alleged global warming needs to be updated. Think of the millions of tons of co2 that a volcano pumps into the athmosphere each year, and there are about 20 active ones, compared to the amount your houseplants can absorb. We as individuals can do nothing to make one iota of difference, don`t believe the hype.
