What are good house plants?

I have childern and a cat, what plants are safe? Also I don't have a green thumb but want some fresh plants for the house...help

What are good house plants?
Coleus, tradescantia are easy to grow, spider plant, money tree, Ficus bejamina, schefflera all can be grown

with no exp. at all

Coleus of all colours potted together stands out a real indoor winner (for colour have to do little sunlighting sitting)
Reply:Angel wing begonia---There is information on the web about them that you can look up, to see if they may be what you are looking for.
Reply:cactus
Reply:Philodendrons, And I don't know the botanical name for this but my mom called them wandering jew, they have beautiful purple leaves.
Reply:Try planting a small indoor herb garden. They smell great and some (like thyme and rosemary) even have pretty flowers. They are very easy to grow and take care of, and most will be safe for kids and animals. (Check online or with a garden center first to be sure.) You could even plant some catnip especially for the cat. And as an added bonus, you will have a steady supply of fresh herbs for cooking. Good luck!
